Coconut Oil For Hair:

For Naturally Healthy and
Radiant Hair

The use of coconut oil for hair care is hardly a new idea...

It's been around on Earth a very long time and for many living in countries like the Philippines, Burma, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia, this tropical oil is all they have grown up using on their hair.

As far as they're concerned, they wouldn’t use anything else to rejuvenate the hair and scalp.

Coconut oil for hair of any length

Healthy, Shiny and Smooth Hair

This oil from the tropics is very gentle yet amazingly effective. It can make your hair radiant and beautiful!

This special oil is blessed with abundant antioxidants and medium-chain fatty acids. The fact that it contains this combination of nutrients gives it an edge over other healthy oils used for hair care. These nutrients nourish, protect and heal the hair shaft and scalp.

Scientific research has proven that coconut oil is the only oil that penetrates the hair shaft. This is why it's an ideal solution for hair that's dry, brittle or cracked.

I can attest to the scientific research by my own experience.

Before using this oil, my hair was often dry and brittle on the ends. Then, several years ago, I began to use the oil as a post wash conditioner. What a difference! It breathed new life into my dull, dry looking mane.

Now, it's all I use on my hair and it's soft, shiny and smooth, very healthy looking and I even get comments that I must be darkening my hair color!!

Besides improving the quality of dry, brittle or cracked hair, this healthy oil also strengthens undamaged hair and reduces damage to bleached or thermally treated hair.

However, the most important reason to use coconut oil for hair is because it helps to reduce protein loss for all hair types. (1)  This is one of the advantages of using coconut oil over other oils.

Some other benefits of using this tropical oil for your hair are:

  • Controls dandruff
  • Prevents premature graying
  • Prevents baldness
  • Deepens natural hair color
  • Cost effective

Treating your hair with this oil works two ways. One is to use coconut oil for hair as a pre-wash, and the other way is to use it as a post-wash conditioner.

Here are instructions for both methods:

Pre-Wash Method

Coconut oil for hair as a pre wash

Pure, Unrefined Coconut Oil

  1. Apply a generous palm size portion of oil to hair and scalp.
  2. Massage oil thoroughly into hair and scalp.
  3. Leave oil on hair and scalp. Let soak in.

*Daytime = wait a minimum of 15min. (30min-1hour is preferable)

After waiting allotted time period, wash out.

*Nighttime (before bed) = leave in overnight and cover head with shower cap.

In the morning, wash out.

Post-Wash Method

Massaging Oil in Wet Hair

  1. Wash hair.
  2. When hair is still wet, take a 1/8-1/4 tsp. size of oil and massage it all over the hair and scalp working it into the top and bottom layers of hair.
  3. Leave oil in hair.
  4. Comb or brush through.
  5. Blow dry hair or let it dry naturally.

Keep in mind these instructions are general guidelines. If the amount of oil is too much or too little, adjust the amount as needed.

The health of your hair and scalp is not only improved by applying the oil externally to your head, but you can also do your overall health a favor by using it in other ways externally or by taking it internally.
